| Micah Challenge Canada National Coordinator Job Description Micah Challenge is a movement committed to seeing the Christian community respond to the call of God for justice, mercy and spiritual integrity. “…what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God” – Micah 6:8 Micah Challenge is seeking a visionary, committed individual to take the position of National Coordinator to work with the Christian member constituency of Micah Challenge Canada in their desire to deepen the Biblical understanding of justice and mercy issues while they engage the goal of halving absolute global poverty by 2015. The Coordinator will engage with political leaders, churches, leaders of denominations, Christian education institutions and individuals across Canada to define and develop the collective needs and will be a champion in encouraging the evangelical community to be a part of the Micah Challenge movement. ACCOUNTABILITIES · Strengthen and enhance the message of Micah Challenge with Christian communities across Canada. · Encourage churches to be an integral partner in Micah Challenge Canada. · Develop and implement strategies that will assist members of Micah Challenge Canada in moving the movement forward, reporting on achievements to the membership and supporting various fund raising efforts. · Develop and implement with the membership a strategy, operating plan and budget as well as preparation of financial reports. Refining of the membership’s desires will be responsibility of the Board. · Report to the Board Chair RESPONSIBILITIES · Prepare a strategy that reflects the priority initiatives as agreed to by the membership annually, consulting with various members throughout the process to ensure appropriateness of direction. · Work with churches and denominational leaders to assist them in increasing their constituents’ understanding of global justice issues. · Promote Micah Challenge in colleges and universities and work with student groups to raise awareness of the Millennium Development Goals. · Increase membership by networking and creating grassroots “Micah Challenge chapters” in cities across Canada. · Liaise between the membership and the board regarding expectations of the membership. · Explore potential events, seminars, workshops and forums on social justice issues that will serve to raise the profile of Micah Challenge. · Achieve successful fundraising initiatives through membership support and the Board. · Define a communications strategy that includes the media in collaboration with strategic partners, Chair of the Board and EFC Director of Communications. · Organize and coordinate Micah Challenge workshops, events and conferences to engage and educate members and the wider public on the campaign. · Oversee/ mentor Micah Challenge student interns. · Liaise with Micah Challenge International. · Liaise with other like-minded churches, organizations and campaigns including KAIROS, CCRDA and Make Poverty History Canada. · Development of educational resources and upkeep of website in order to engage constituents and keep them updated. · Cultivate local leaders of Micah chapters/ cell groups around the country. QUALIFICATIONS · Experience in Church or Christian educational institutions and can operate comfortably in church, evangelical and ecumenical environments. · Sound theological understanding of a biblical based worldview. · A compelling speaker and motivator who has the ability to inspire. · Strong coordinating and communications skills with the ability to mobilize people for action. · Excellent organizational skills and event planning skills. · Fluency in both English and French preferred.
